  • To commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Hanyang University, the Hanyang University Museum prepared the exhibition, "Beautiful Traditional Korean Musical Instruments." This exhibition, sponsored by the Department of Traditional Korean Music (Gukak) of Hanyang University's College of Music, presents the history, characteristics, and future of Korean instruments through actual instruments and illustrations.

For this exhibition, materials related to musical instruments found in Archaeological and Art Historical Materials from the Prehistoric to Historic Eras were displayed using illustrations and replicas (or restored artifacts). Additionally, the exhibition features instruments created by Intangible Cultural Heritage Holders and donated to the museum, as well as Traditional Korean Instruments held by the university's Gukak Department, and approximately ten Modified Musical Instruments.

The most significant feature of this exhibition is the display of the Hwangjong Piri, a Modified Wind Instrument. The Hwangjong Piri is a new Korean instrument developed in 2001 by a team led by Professor Park In-gi of the Hanyang University College of Music's Gukak Department. It was improved to be capable of producing the Hwang Eum (tone), whereas the creative Hyangpiri could only reach the Im Eum (tone) in its Lowest Register, thereby making the Expressive Capability of Traditional Korean Music more diverse and rich.
