Hello! This is Hanyang University Museum 😊
The 13th session of Hanyang Museum Academy, titled “Recording Through Memory – What Kind of Record Does Your Day Leave?”, began last Thursday, September 26 ✨
📱 Lecture 1: “Media in Your Hands: Recording with a Smartphone Camera” featured Dr. Kyunghwa Kim (Media Anthropologist). She gave an insightful talk on the development of smartphone cameras and the relationship between memory and recording.
🪽 Lecture 2: “Records Across Generations: Korean Modern and Contemporary Embroidery” was presented by Curator Hyesung Park (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art). Participants learned behind-the-scenes stories of works displayed in the popular exhibition Korean Modern and Contemporary Embroidery: Birds Trying to Catch the Sun. The lecture also highlighted the value of embroidery as a record reflecting the lives and times of artisans.
On Thursday, October 17, the 3rd session will feature a field tour, “Walking Seongsu and Wangsimni with an Urban Document Scholar”, led by urban document scholar Kim Sideok. Look forward to a vivid report on the tour in the next post =)
✨ Many more lectures are still to come ✨
We invite your active interest and participation in lectures covering various topics—including field tours, workshops, epitaphs, letters, apartments, and landscapes—led by experts in each field.
