Hello!

This is the Hanyang University Museum 😊

We are pleased to share highlights from Lectures 3 and 4 of the 14th Hanyang Museum Academy, titled Rival Log: A World History of Conflict and Creation.

🎨 Lecture 3 featured Professor Yang Jung-moo (Department of Art Theory, Korea National University of Arts), who explored the artistic rivalry among the three great masters of the Renaissance—Leonardo da Vinci vs. Michelangelo vs. Raphael. By examining their relationships as contemporaries who inspired and challenged one another, the lecture shed light on how Renaissance art became richer and more dynamic.

🖼 Lecture 4 was presented by Sung Soo-young, Culture Desk Reporter at The Korea Economic Daily, under the theme “France vs. England: Rivalry on the Path to Artistic Leadership.” Through the rivalries among artists, the lecture examined the directions taken by the art histories of the two nations and traced their influence into the contemporary art market.

📷 Lecture 5 will take place on Thursday, May 22, at 2:00 PM, featuring Lee Jung-woo, Editor-in-Chief of BidPiece. Under the intriguing theme “The Art of Addition and the Art of Subtraction: Painting vs. Photography,” the lecture will discuss how painting and photography, while remaining conscious of one another, have expanded the boundaries of art.

The Hanyang Museum Academy consists of a total of nine lectures.

We look forward to your continued interest and participation in the upcoming sessions 💙
