This is the Hanyang University Museum 😊
We are pleased to share updates from Lectures 5 and 6 of the 14th Cohort of the Hanyang Museum Academy, titled Rival Log: A World History of Conflict and Creation!
📷 Lecture 5 featured Editor-in-Chief Lee Jung-woo (BidPiece), under the theme “The Art of Addition and the Art of Subtraction: Painting vs. Photography.” The session explored the artistic tension and interaction between painting and photography, tracing how photography established itself as an art form and examining its role and significance in art history.
🎼 Lecture 6, “Sounds of Romantic Wars: Wagner vs. Brahms,” was presented by Professor Gye Hee-seung (Department of Composition, Hanyang University). The lecture revisited the concept of rivalry, examined the flow of music history during the Romantic period, and analyzed why Wagner and Brahms were perceived as rivals, as well as how interpretations of their rivalry have changed over time.
💭 Lecture 7 will be held on Thursday, June 5, with Professor Seol Min (Department of Philosophy, Sungkyunkwan University). Under the theme “The Shadows and Complexes of Philosophical Giants: Hegel vs. Schopenhauer,” the lecture will explore the intellectual confrontation and philosophical worlds of these two thinkers in depth.
The 14th Cohort of the Hanyang Museum Academy has now entered the latter half of its program!
