Introducing Hanyang University Museum.
[2025 Museum Week] Collections: The First and the Beginning
Hello, this is the Hanyang University Museum!
Previously, we explored the development of computers after the analog computer.
Today, we would like to conclude the story by reflecting on the “First and the Beginning” of our collections.
🌟 Many “Firsts and Beginnings” behind the collections
Analog Computer No. 3, created in 1964, represents Korea’s first computer and was designated as a Registered Cultural Heritage of Korea in 2013. Dr. Lee Man-Young, who first built the analog computer, was also Korea’s first PhD in electrical engineering from a U.S. university (Seoul National University College of Engineering alumnus), the first Korean to work in the Boeing commercial aircraft production department in Seattle, and the founding president of Korea Electronics and Telecommunications. He laid the foundation for Korea’s electronics and telecommunications industry.
🔍 Want to learn more about the collections?
Analog Computer No. 3, selected for “Museum X Meet,” is on display at the Hanyang University Museum 2F in the exhibition Expansion of Senses, the Electronic Era. You can explore the electronic devices that captured our eyes and ears during the transition from analog to digital.
