Introducing Hanyang University Museum.
[2025 ICOM Dubai 01] November 12 – Joint Session Presentation by UMAC & CIMUSET
The Hanyang University Museum (Director Shinwon Ahn) participated in the ICOM 2025 General Conference held in Dubai from November 11 to 17, delivering academic session presentations and engaging in international exchange activities.
This year’s conference, themed “Rapidly Changing Communities and the Future of Museums,” facilitated discussions on the preservation and transmission of intangible heritage, the power of youth, and the adoption and application of new technologies. The event was attended by over 4,500 participants from more than 120 countries, with a record 76 representatives from Korean institutions. From our university museum, Senior Curator Nayoung Hwang and Curators Heeju Park and Kyungeun Kim participated.
Hanyang University was the only Korean university selected as a joint session presenter for UMAC and CIMUSET, where it showcased the outcomes of the 2024 interdisciplinary project CEMENT:MOMENT. Titled Material Transformations: Cement, Heritage, and Innovation in the 2024 Project, the presentation featured Curators Nayoung Hwang and Suyeon Kim (currently a curator at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History), highlighting the university museum’s pioneering approach to reinterpreting cement as a resource for memory, materiality, and future innovation.
