[Hanyang Museum Academy 12th Term] “Remembering Through Records – Human History and Culture Viewed Through Records”: Course Launch Announcement
For the Spring 2024 semester, Hanyang University Museum is offering the 12th term of the Hanyang Museum Academy under the theme:
“Remembering Through Records – Human History and Culture Viewed Through Records.”
What do “records” mean to you?
Today we record our lives through photographs, drawings, letters, and many other media. However, the act of recording predates writing itself: from prehistoric times, humanity has left traces in the form of rock carvings (petroglyphs) and animal cave paintings.
After the invention of writing, cultures came to be recorded through books, inscribed stelae, paintings, dress and costume, sculpture, and a wide range of other media. The present we are living in will also be recorded in diverse ways and transmitted to future generations.
In this 12th term of the Hanyang Museum Academy, we will look at “records” not only in the form of writing, but also through rock carvings, paintings, sculpture, and more, across nine different themes, together with experts in each field.
The program will be conducted both online in real time (via ZOOM) and offline at the same time. We look forward to your interest and participation.
Thank you.
