Exhibition Introduction

Hanyang University Museum will present the special exhibition 《CEMENT: MOMENT》 in May 2024, exploring the theme of cement.

Held in celebration of the 85th anniversary of Hanyang University, this exhibition examines cement—a material that has accompanied Korea’s modern and contemporary history—from the perspectives of industrial history, cultural history, social history, and art history. It looks at cement through the lenses of production and distribution, preservation and utilization, development and growth, and education and creation.

Just like cement, which brings together multiple materials to form a solid structure,

this exhibition aims to break the fixed frame of perception surrounding cement and to spark a shift in how we see it—

becoming another small yet powerful “moment.”

We invite you to encounter cement, to stand between the material and yourself,

and to discover your own moment there.
